Feathers from my turquoise budgerigar
beneath my head as I lie
on clouds of white,
though the color itself
isn’t important —
 
the sweet comfort provided by the plush
by the plumage
by the vivid turquoise plumage
though the color itself
isn’t important.

The scarlet blood-feathers
holding me down
like magnetized chunks of grayish iron
or are they scarlet as well?

The rust —
it baffles me
but I really can’t see the colors
with my eyes closed.
All I see is black.
At least that’s what I think I see —
I’m not really sure.
Let’s go with black.

Let’s talk about feelings.
Mainly,
the feeling through my skin of the
plush,
the sweet, velvety
plush
that holds me down.
