When I wake up,
sugar and cream dreams
pull me back, heavy.
On my eyes, sunshine--
closed and dark and
numb like my feet.
A clatter--scrambled
or fried?
Sunny side up in a black,
hunk of metal,
warming joints,
rusted and stretched
cracking, spilling, steaming
s t r e t c h i n g
another one to heal
the scratches, and a tiny voice
only inside your head,
that's a smooth chocolate and mango
gentle voice suspended in the air
like whipped cream.
Sour cream smell, like almost spoiled milk
is in my mouth
as I manage to mumble
an incomplete "Good Morning."
