Through verdant willow overhangs
Down dappled waters winding
Through the dreaming day we sang
Laughing, hoping, sighing
Beneath the sandstone cliffsides high
Dance the rapids roaring
Beneath the burning canyon sky
My spirit bright and soaring
Across the waters mirrored blue
The worn kayak rocks me gently
Across the ripples of the moon
Lie lake roads paved with memory
I’ll row my rambling river songs
To stormy winter shores
After I have drifted on
